Before motorists can enjoy additional left-turn lanes and dedicated right-turn lanes, they must endure about eight months of road restrictions, closures and detours on Cole from Florence Lane to Westwood Drive and on Fairview from El Dorado Street to Westland Drive.
More than 20,000 vehicles traverse the intersection daily, according to ACHD’s latest traffic count.

ACHD will hold a community meeting on the project from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at Westgate Shopping Center, 7500 Fairview Ave.
ACHD spokesman Craig Quintana said the construction timeline and road-closure details are still being worked out with the contractor and should be determined by the Dec. 15 meeting.
According to an ACHD calendar of current and upcoming road construction projects, construction on the Cole/Fairview project is slated to start Jan. 3 and continue through August. It will involve “major delays.”
