Deputies responded to the report of a shooting around 1:30 a.m. outside a home on the 3300 block of East Deer Flat Road. The two teens had reportedly gotten into a disagreement over text earlier that night, and then continued the dispute in-person at the home on East Deer Flat Road, according to ACSO.
After the shooting, other people present took the victim to the hospital in a car. ACSO stopped the vehicle, as part of the investigation, and called in paramedics to take the victim to the hospital.
Barber was taken into custody from the residence on Deer Flat, charged with aggravated battery and is set for his first court appearance Friday afternoon. Aggravated battery is punishable by up to 15 years in prison, according to ACSO.
