Body found in river identified as Boise man, 62; no foul play evident

Boise police are investigating the death of Michael Rolland Allen, 62, whose body was found in the Boise River Tuesday evening.

The Ada County Coroner’s Office said the death is being investigated as a drowning, and an autopsy Wednesday revealed no obvious signs of trauma. Boise police are still investigating, spokeswoman Haley Williams said, “following up on other aspects to rule out any criminal wrongdoing leading up to the death.”

Asked how long the body had been in the river and whether Allen had been reported missing, Williams said no details about the ongoing investigation are available at this time.

Cause and manner of death will not be determined until toxicology results are in, and that could take several weeks, the coroner’s office reports. The coroner reports Allen was pronounced dead Tuesday, but did not estimate when he died.

The Boise man’s body was recovered from the river at Ann Morrison Park near the American Boulevard entrance Tuesday night. A citizen reported spotting the body at 7:04 p.m., Boise police report.
