Emmett man cited for DUI after minivan plunges into Payette River

An Emmett man whose minivan plunged into the Payette River Tuesday evening was cited for DUI and inattentive driving.

Jimmy Michael Rae, 44, was booked into the Ada County Jail and later released, according to jail records.

Idaho State Police and the Boise County Sheriff's Office told KBOI-TV, Channel 2, that Rae was driving north on Idaho 55 between Horseshoe Bend and Banks when he lost control of his minivan and went into the river.

Rae was able to get out of his vehicle and swim to safety, investigators said. He refused emergency medical care, KBOI-TV reports.

The minivan has since been removed from the river.
