Prominent Boise attorney killed in Brazil boating accident

Ken Pursley, a founding partner in the Boise law firm Givens Pursley LLP, reportedly died Wednesday while on a fishing trip in the headwaters of the Amazon River, Ed Miller and Chris Beeson of Givens Pursley said in an emailed notice Thursday.

Pursley died after the boat he and others were in overturned in the rapids, Miller and Beeson said. His friend Pat March was thrown free to safety, they said. Few details were available Thursday, and arrangements for a memorial service are pending.

"Ken’s death is a harsh, heartbreaking blow to all of us at Givens Pursley and to Ken and Elizabeth’s many friends and family, to whom we extend our deep sympathies and condolences," Miller and Beeson said. "Ken was a dear friend and valued mentor to many of us. His impact on our law firm and all of us individually is difficult to capture in words."
