The board of the Western Elmore County Recreation District will provide an overview of the recreation district’s history and plans to build a new YMCA at a public forum late Monday afternoon.
The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the gymnasium at Mountain Home High School, 300 S. 11th E. St. Here’s a link to the full agenda for the meeting.
The recreation district has collected nearly $5 million over the past 15 years, but they have not yet broken ground on the new facility. Some in the community say the project has taken far too long to come to fruition, and they’re not convinced the planned project is a good fit.
A petition drive is under way to put it to voters whether or not the recreation district should be dissolved. Here’s a link to the Facebook page for Stop the Madness Now! Dissolve the Western Elmore County Recreation District.
