Southern Idaho woman claims $1 million prize in Powerball game

Sara Perez of Shoshone has claimed a $1 million prize in the June 3 Powerball game, according to the Idaho Lottery. She plans to pay bills with her winnings.

Perez’s quick pick ticket, which she purchased at The Main Stop in Shoshone, had the first five numbers correct. She checked the ticket Sunday at a retail store.

“The machine started making noises, ‘Beep! Beep! Beep!’ I thought I had broken it!” Perez told Lottery officials. “I am still in shock.”

She is the first player from Shoshone, or anywhere in Lincoln, County, to win $1 million or more.
