Police: 2 injured in 3-vehicle accident near New Plymouth

Two people were transported to the hospital after a three-vehicle wreck near New Plymouth Saturday afternoon, according to Idaho State Police.

Police responded to the call around 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of State Highway 52 and State Highway 72.

Michelle Johnson, 36, of Coquille, Oregon, was driving south in her 2010 Honda Accord on SH-52 when she failed to yield to James Sando, 42, of Emmett who was driving his 2008 Ford Mustang west on SH-72. Sando spun around and was hit by Jeremie Vanpaepeghem, 38, of Nampa, who was driving east in his Ford F-250 on SH-72, according to ISP.

Sando and Johnson were transported to the hospital. Their health status is unknown at this time, according to ISP.

Traffic on SH-72 was blocked for about 2 hours.

Investigators haven’t been able to determine whether any of the occupants were wearing seatbelts. The incident is still under investigation.
