UPDATE: Power pole caught fire in remote area, cut power from E. Boise to Idaho City

A burning power pole in a hard-to-reach area caused a power outage stretching from East Boise to Idaho City Tuesday, according to the Idaho Power outage line.

The outage, reported at 1:30 p.m., affected more than 2,500 customers, who were without power for much of the evening.

The affected area stretched from Warm Springs, east of Eckert Road, and along Idaho 21 to Idaho City. Customers in Centerville, Placerville, Star Ranch, Wilderness Ranch and Clear Creek were among those without power.

Idaho Power reported the damaged power pole was in a remote area that is difficult to get to, slowing the process of restoring power.
