Man who barricaded himself in Boise Verizon store charged, prosecutor says

A man accused of entering the Verizon store on Broadway Avenue in Boise two weeks ago and barricading himself in a back room has been charged, according to a Boise City prosecutor.

Jesse W. Byerly, 33, has been charged with three misdemeanors: trespassing, resisting and obstructing officers, and using or being under the influence of a controlled substance.

The April 10 incident shut down three businesses for more than two hours.

Boise police say the suspect — identified by prosecutors as Byerly — was taken to a hospital that day and remained there the next day. Officers sent their report to prosecutors, who made the charging decision. No court dates have been set, according to the Idaho Court Repository.

According to online court records, Byerly has a lengthy arrest history, including convictions for theft, battery and domestic violence.
