Boise area residents should expect a big temperature drop on Tuesday, with highs reaching only 44. Rain and snow are expected, along with strong winds. Gusts could reach 31 mph, according to NWS.
No snow is expected to stick in the Treasure Valley, though forecasters said earlier this week that Bogus Basin could get 6 inches.
Gardeners should also take note of an expected hard freeze overnight on Tuesday. Cover new plantings, or move them inside when possible.
Wednesday will be a little warmer, with highs around 51, but look out for an overnight freeze on Wednesday as well.
Temperatures will climb steadily through the end of the week, with an anticipated high of between 68 and 70 on Friday and Saturday with mostly sunny skies.
According to the National Weather Service, the last official hard freeze date — meaning temperatures will fall below 28 — is April 19 in Boise, April 12 in Nampa.
The last freeze date is May 8 in Boise, May 3 in Nampa.
