A semi-truck struck a pickup east of New Plymouth Tuesday at 9 a.m. sending a man to the hospital.
Brandon Walton, 19, of Emmett, was driving westbound on SE 1st street in and failed to yield at the stop sign, the Idaho State Police said in a press release. When he pulled into the intersection on Idaho 52 his pickup was struck by a semi driven by Michael Vogel, 45, of Cambridge.
Walton was transported via air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise; he was not wearing his seatbelt. Vogel wearing a seatbelt and was not transported.
Walton is in serious condition as of Wednesday morning, according to Joshua Schlaich, St. Alphonsus spokesperson.
The lanes were partially blocked for four and a half hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
