A 58-year-old Caldwell man was hospitalized Tuesday morning after a multiple-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 in Nampa, according to Idaho State Police.
Felix Hurtado-Mohring was taken by ground ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Medical Center in Nampa.
Robert Winstead, a 51-year-old North Carolina man, was cited for following to close, an ISP spokeswoman said late Tuesday.
The chain-reaction crash occurred at 8 a.m. on I-84 near the Northside Road overpass at Milepost 35.
Idaho State Police investigators say traffic on the highway was slowing for congestion before the crash.
Winstead was traveling east on the interstate. His vehicle struck a Ford Ranger driven by Hurtado-Mohring, police said.
Hurtado-Mohring’s vehicle then struck two other vehicles. The drivers of those vehicles were identified as Caldwell residents Chanelle Youren, 22, and R. Gonzales-Rodriguez, 47.
The crash is under investigation. No information was immediately available on citations.
