Boise police use tear gas, tasers to arrest man wanted on stalking charge

Boise police were forced to use tear gas and tasers Friday afternoon after a man charged with felony first-degree stalking refused to negotiate with authorities. The incident forced the closure of Cole Road north of Amity Road.

A warrant was obtained for Troy Fowler, 38, after evidence gathered by police showed he had made contact with the protected party, Boise Police said. Authorities attempted to make contact with Fowler at a residence on the 7000 block of Danbury Court, but he refused.

The Boise Police Crisis Negotiation Team attempted to negotiate with Fowler, who continued defying commands, according to police. The Special Operation Unit then used tear gas to force Fowler outside the residence. Fowler continued to be hostile, police said, which then led to his being tased.

Fowler was taken to a local hospital and will be booked in the Ada County Jail.
