The circumstances surrounding the days before 34-year-old Andrew Gatten’s death remain unclear, and officers are searching for information about the Meridian man.
Gatten’s body was found July 11 on a small island in the Boise River, just west of Willow Lane.
Gatten had been released from the Ada County Jail on May 4, and Ada County Sheriff’s detectives would like to talk with anyone who spoke with Gatten or saw him following his release. This contact could include text messages or social media posts.
It’s unclear how long Gatten had been missing before his remains were discovered, and detectives are still working to figure out where, when and how Gatten got into the Boise River.

The Boise River had been over well over flood stage for most of the spring — it was running above 8,500 cubic feet per second on May 4 and covered most of the island. The river didn’t drop down below 2,000 cfs until July 6, less than a week before Gatten was found.
The Ada County Coroner’s Office reports show the cause and manner of his death are pending. Investigators say there were no obvious signs of fatal injury.
