Boise motorcyclist killed, passenger seriously injured in early morning crash

A Boise motorcyclist was killed and his passenger seriously injured in an early-morning crash with an SUV, according to a Boise Police Department press release.

The accident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday at Vista Avenue and Cassia Street.

Witnesses said the motorcyclist, who has not yet been identified, was southbound on Vista when he ran into the side of an SUV attempting to make a left-hand turn. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a woman who has also not yet been identified, was hospitalized with serious injuries.

The woman driving the SUV was not injured.

It’s not yet clear what caused the crash. Police said neither the driver of the motorcycle nor the passenger wore helmets.

The man’s death is the latest in a recent rash of motorcycle fatalities across the state that has police urging all motorists to be aware and drive with caution.
