Lynn Evans, 69, had just put a new engine in a tractor and was working on it when it “somehow popped into gear” and rolled back over him, Washington County Sheriff Matt Thomas said.
Evans’ wife heard the tractor running, came outside and found her husband, the sheriff said.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was called about the incident at 10:36 a.m. July 4. The death happened on Evans’ property on Haas Road west of Weiser.
“It’s really just a freak accident is what it was,” Thomas said.
