Detectives are searching for two teenagers who appear to have stolen a trail camera on May 2 in an animal observation area off Idaho 21. This is the female suspect.

Both teenagers captured on a stolen animal-observation camera last month are under 18, and no charges are expected against the girl, an Ada County Sheriff’s spokesman said Wednesday.

The boy, who is 17, may be charged after the investigation is complete, but no determination has been made, he said. The most likely charge is petit theft, a misdemeanor.

The suspects’ photos were circulated publicly Friday in connection with the May 2 theft of an animal observation camera in the area of Warm Springs Avenue and Idaho 21.

The camera was monitored by members of the Boise State University Intermountain Bird Observatory to study mammal populations in the area. It was secured to a tree branch by a steel cable, which was cut.
