Photos pay tribute to Boise’s first ‘first responders’

As the country remembers the anniversary of 9/11, we look back in time at images of some of Boise’s own first “first responders” — the firefighters who helped protect life and limb in a growing city.

The images come from the Boise State University Special Collections and Archives and the collection donated by William “Doc” Roach. Roach served as a Boise firefighter and fire marshal with a career that spanned from 1911 to 1965.
