The Idaho Botanical Garden is welcoming Erin Guerricabeitia as the new executive director of the Idaho Botanical Garden.
Guerricabeitia has a long history with community and horticulture in Boise. She comes to her new job from previous posts as executive director of the Boise Urban Garden School (BUGS) and the Foothills Learning Center with the City of Boise.
Guerricabeitia has over ten years of experience in nonprofit management, including fundraising and budgeting, staff development, and strategic planning. Guerricabeitia is also an active community volunteer and is currently the president of Junior League of Boise.
The Idaho Botanical Garden was founded in 1984. It’s located in Boise’s Old Penitentiary Historic District and sits on 33 acres leased from the State of Idaho. The IBG includes gardens devoted to firewise landscaping, waterwise landscaping and native plants in addition to more traditional plantings including an English garden. The garden is in the midst of a major expansion which includes a new building that will more than double the space available for educational programs for adults and children.
