Business is good at Edmark Superstore/Kia, which repeated as Idaho’s top dealership for new auto sales and total sales in 2015. Co-owner Dave Edmark says the dealership has enjoyed year-over-year growth in sales since the economy hit bottom in 2009.
“Both Canyon and Ada county markets are up,” Edmark says. “The automobile business is in its longest expansion of increased year-over-year car sales since World War II.”
With gas prices falling to around $2 per gallon in 2015, buyer appetites for larger vehicles returned, Edmark says.
“A few years ago, fuel economy drove everything,” he says. “It was all about four cylinders and downsizing and mileage. Now we’re back to performance, styling and full-size vehicles. We still sell a ton of Kia Souls, but that’s for the price point rather than the economy of the vehicle.”
