Panera Bread is making a big push into the Idaho market.
A media representative for the bakery-cafe chain — known for its bagels, other baked goods, sandwiches and soups — said the company’s new store in Nampa is one of seven it will have in Idaho by early next year.
Panera will have stores in Boise, Nampa, Twin Falls, Idaho Falls and Hayden. Panera is opening an eatery in Meridian in December and in Chubbuck early next year, she said.
According to city permit records, the Boise location is slated for 8401 W. Franklin Road, at the intersection of Franklin Road and Milwaukee Street. The bakery-cafe will be about 5,000 square feet with a drive-through window.

While the company offers franchise opportunities — with a typical requirement to open 15 locations in the franchisee’s area, in a six-year period — it is making its move into Idaho with company-run stores.
