If you’re driving down State Street in Boise and notice a lot full of cars, you might be surprised to learn it’s not a dealership.
The Park-It Market is a new business owned by Heather and Robert Sanders, a Meridian couple. The idea behind the business is to offer a secure lot for people to store their automobiles while they sell them — through Craigslist or a classified ad, for example — and for potential buyers to take a look.
The Park-It Market’s first lot opened June 1 at 5033 W. State St. in Boise, a few blocks west of Collister Drive.
The business charges a weekly or monthly parking fee and does not operate on commissions.

“The concept originally was called The Boise Car-Mart, which I started in 2000 at The Boise Towne Square Mall,” Heather Sanders said. “I operated nine months out of the year , due to holiday parking at the mall.”
Sanders shut down that business in late 2007, but she has “always regretted” that decision and decided to revive the concept, she said.
