Zen Bento to open another Boise restaurant

The popular, Japanese-inspired lunch spot Zen Bento will add a third location May 26.

Owner Rene Iwamasa is taking over the former Kana Girl’s Hawaiian BBQ spot at 3912 W. State St.

Zen Bento serves healthy, grab-and-go or eat-in salads and rice bento bowls featuring vegetables, teriyaki chicken, beef, tofu, salmon, seared ahi and curry specials, and house-made sauces.

This new location is a hybrid of the other Zen Bentos at 1000 W. Main St. in Boise (388-8808) and 342 E. State St. in Eagle (938-4277).

You’ll find the the menu from Downtown Boise, including items such as the Zesar, a Zen version of a Caesar salad, with teriyaki chicken and wasabi vinaigrette, Iwamasa says.

Hours are the same as at the Eagle eatery: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays. Iwamasa may extend hours until 9 p.m. on some nights and plans to add a drive-thru pick-up window later in the summer. The new phone number is 343-1760. You can fax orders to 343-1720. She offers delivery for a 10 percent fee for orders of 10 or more.
