Remodeler joins voluntary licensing program

Joe Levitch, President of Levco Builders in Boise, became the first Treasure Valley contractor to join Idaho’s voluntary contractor license program. Run by the Professional Building Contractors Licensing Review Board, the licensing program started in 2007 shortly a bill that would have required statewide licensure failed to pass in the Idaho Legislature. The license is now required in three eastern Idaho cities and is voluntary in the rest of the state.

The review board is a non-profit working to increase builder accountability and education. Levitch joined the licensing program after being appointed to its board of directors.

Levitch, who is also called “Queso Grande” and “El Presidente” on the Levco website, wanted to “market my business as taking a step of quality above my competitors, through affiliation with a program that stands for excellence,” he said in a release.
