Areva still confident about Idaho

Bill Barker is so confident Areva’s $3 billion uranium-enrichment plant will be built, he bought a winter home in Driggs. Barker will be the French company's new Idaho site manager.

Lack of cash to fund the planned Eagle Rock enrichment plant west of Idaho Falls has been a problem for Areva, which has no schedule for construction.

Areva announced the plant in 2008.

“The project is still viable to the U.S.,” Barker says. “If it wasn't, the company would have pulled the plug.”
