The Salvation Army in Kansas City, Kan., has put out an urgent plea for food donations.
Officials say the shelves are nearly empty and the freezer is bare. The shortage comes at a time when need is rising.
“More and more families are turning to us each month for help in putting food on their tables,” Maj. Rich Forney said today. “With family budgets being stretched right now to the limit, our food pantry is, for many people, literally a life saver.”
