Canyon County Pet of the Week: Lyra

Lyra, 5, is an 85-pound Great Pyrenees blend who has been looking for a forever home for almost two months. She arrived at the shelter because she enjoyed taking herself for a walk, wandering miles away, and her owners could not manage that behavior. They described her as easy-going, loving, social, curious and playful with everyone, including kids. She enjoys agility, running and walks.

She has lived with one dog and was friendly. She has no reaction to any of the dogs in the adjacent yards or exiting her kennel at the shelter. Lyra is housetrained, but enjoys an indoor/outdoor environment to get a wide range of scents. She seems to enjoy baths and brushing so it will be easy to keep her coat and skin healthy.

Lyra's adoption fee includes current vaccines, spay and microchip.

Come meet Lyra at West Valley Humane Society, 5801 Graye Lane in Caldwell, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Learn about her and other adoptable pets at
