Recipe: French-Fry Pie

The thing I love about "Real Simple" magazine is that everything in it is real simple.

Take this recipe that transforms frozen french-fries (a must in my freezer) into an easy main dish meal sure to please just about everyone at the table.

The recipe is from an article about repurposing frozen food for those busy nights when heading to the grocery store and chopping fresh veggies just doesn't sound so appealing.

Plus, I'll use any excuse I can think of to eat french fries for dinner.

4 cups frozen shoestring French fries

11/2 pounds ground beef

1 14-ounce jar marinara sauce

Heat oven to 425. Spread fries on a baking sheet and bake until golden, about 25 minutes

Meanwhile, cook the ground beef in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until no trace of pink remains, about eight to 10 minutes.

Spoon off excess fat.

Add the marinara sauce and cook until warmed through. Tranfser to an eight-inch square baking dish. Top with fries. If desired, return to oven for five minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
