A group of volunteer searchers found the body of 19-year-old Adrian Monreal Rubio on Sunday morning. He was presumed drowned.
According to Jeff Eideller, Homedale's chief of police, the police were called at about 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday night after Rubio and seven others were caught in a windstorm while in a boat on the Snake River in Homedale. Once the boat began to take water, all of the occupants jumped out of the boat. All except Rubio were rescued from the river.
Police and volunteers searched the river until 3 a.m. and started again at sunrise on Thursday. Both official and volunteer rescue boats searched from sunrise to sunset every day until Rubio's body was found at about 10:45 a.m. Sunday.
"We would like to extend condolences to the family and friends of Adrian," the Owyhee County Sheriff's office said in a media release. "In addition, the tireless efforts of all volunteers to give peace to the family are greatly appreciated."
