Landman's Billy Bob Thornton Breaks Silence on Surprise Full Frontal Scene

Billy Bob Thornton has spoken out for the first time about his surprise full frontal scene in Landman.

"I don't know what the reaction was," Thornton, 70, exclusively admitted to Us Weekly while attending the Newport Beach TV Fest sponsored by Visit Newport Beach on Saturday, June 6. "But obviously before we filmed, it was kind of like, ‘Whoa, yikes. This is interesting.'"

Thornton referred to it as a "funny scene," adding, "And I didn't care."

During a December 2025 episode of the Paramount+ series, Thornton's Tommy woke up in bed and accidentally flashed an employee at a hotel. The hotel worker started to scream when Tommy - who was still asleep - rolled over and exposed himself. The woman asked that Tommy not "rape" her, which is when Angela (Ali Larter) rushed in from the bathroom.

"Put your d*** away!" Angela told Tommy before addressing the hotel employee. "Don't be scared, darling. That wasn't about you. He eats [prescription medication used to treat erectile dysfunction] Cialis like M&Ms and runs into door jams all morning with that thing. I'm so sorry about that."

Angela started to argue with Tommy after the woman left.

"I was trying to surprise you with breakfast in bed. … That is not the best angle of your ball sack, I might add. You really have to love a man to look at him from there. Poor thing. If she wasn't a lesbian when she walked in here, she's a f***ing lesbian now," she said. "I'm getting dressed. My husband flashes the waitstaff and that kind of kills the mood."

Tommy, meanwhile, blamed Angela for giving him "an extra pill" the night before.

"Now, what do I do with this f***ing thing?" he asked. "I might f*** the whole breakfast. The waffles, the fruit, the goddamn bagel and the omelette. The omelette is the first thing that's getting f***ed. You better order another one because that one is f***ed."

Creator Christian Wallace later clarified in January that it "wasn't an actual full-frontal" scene for Thornton.

"We had an on-set intimacy coordinator, and the original prosthetic she brought in made everyone laugh. We were like, ‘No,'" he told The Hollywood Reporter at the time.

After seeing the size of the original prosthetic, the crew opted for "a more humble alternative" for Thornton.

"It is surprising to me that people think that was actually Billy doing full-frontal nudity," Wallace added. "So I should say props to our intimacy coordinator for making it extremely realistic, and to the props team. They had a whole rig, as Billy called it: ‘Got my rig on.'"

Looking ahead, Thornton addressed fan concerns about Tommy's future on the show.

"I think [creator] Taylor [Sheridan] is going to let me hang around," he added in Saturday, hinting that his character won't be killed off just yet.
