Boy band? Pop-punk band? Power-pop band? The debate rages on about 5 Seconds of Summer. Unlike most boy bands, 5SOS actually plays instruments. The group’s original inspiration came from the genre that created bands such as Green Day and Blink-182. But make no mistake: Touring with One Direction is what truly propelled this Australian quartet to the next level, so the target demographic is no mystery: Young and female. Expect lots of screaming at Taco Bell Arena. A recent concert review from the St Louis Post-Dispatch noted that, “There’s really nothing that special about Luke Hemmings (vocals, guitar), Michael Clifford (guitar, vocals), Calum Hood (bass, vocals), Ashton Irwin (drums, vocals). On the flip side of that, there’s nothing to dislike about them either. And that middle ground isn’t a very exciting place to be.”

7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, Taco Bell Arena, 1401 Bronco Lane, Boise. $25-$79.95. Ticketmaster.
