A man, a woman, two classical guitars. In the entertainment universe, it sounds too simple to succeed. But Rodrigo Sánchez and Gabriela Quintero attack their instruments with crowd-pleasing ferocity and joy. With roots in Mexico City’s thrash-metal scene, the duo has grown to embrace other forms of rock and flamenco-inspired music. Their journey has taken them to worldly places ranging from Le Zenith in Paris to Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado — even to the White House, where they performed for President Obama in 2010. Sometimes, listening to them feels like listening to Ottmar Leibert on a Red Bull bender. Go ahead: Headbang to some acoustic guitar.
8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, Morrison Center, 2201 Cesar Chavez Lane, Boise. $40-$75. Ticketmaster.
