Rock music. Pop music. American music. It’s all the blues to Los Angeles singer-guitarist Dennis Jones. With a cool, confident vocal style that evokes Jimi Hendrix, and guitar chops influenced by heavy hitters ranging from the three Kings (B.B, Freddie, Albert) to Jimmy Page, he’ll keep things hard and funky at the 19th annual Blues on the Banks. Jones and his band don’t just mix things up instrumentally; his lyrics sometimes tackle modern subjects that give his blues songs an irreverent feel. Locals Jake Leg and the Blues Directors Band open this outdoor show.
6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, Stewart’s Bar and Grill, 2805 Blaine St., Caldwell. $10. Brown Paper Tickets. $15 at the door. This is a fundraiser for the Boise Blues Society “Blues in the Schools” program.
