God and Country Festival to lure thousands to Nampa

Statesman file

If you haven’t been before, you might not realize how big the God and Country Festival is each year. The gathering draws a massive crowd to the Ford Idaho Center Amphitheater. Why? Because the volunteer-run, non-denominational celebration IS a big deal. And it’s free. In the words of organizers: “a night of family-friendly fun, including the Treasure Valley’s largest fireworks show, great Christian bands, military appreciation, civic awards, food and fellowship.” This year’s musical headliner will be Danny Gokey (of “American Idol”), joined by local contemporary Christian singer-songwriter Ryan Stevenson. Evangelist Andrew Palau also will speak. If you show up earlier in the afternoon starting at 2, you’ll find pre-event bounce houses and BMX stunt demos.

6 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, Ford Idaho Center Amphitheater, 16200 Idaho Center Blvd., Nampa. godandcountryfestival.com. Free.
