If you listen to the title track to Johnny Rawls’ new album, “Tiger in a Cage,” you hear a wicked-good Curtis Mayfield influence. Rawls is smoooooth. Still, a more traditional soul-blues sound often permeates Rawls’ songs. The 64-year-old singer-guitarist should be a major crowd pleaser for the Boise Blues Society faithful at this intimate, affordable Thursday-night show.
7 p.m. Thursday, March 24, Playhouse Events and Dinner Theater, 8001 Fairview Ave., Boise. $10. Brown Paper Tickets.
