Formed in the early 1980s, Slayer is one of the so-called Big Four of thrash metal, a club that includes Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax. Consequently, the sometimes controversial group normally plays arenas and large festivals. Not this time. Slayer will get cozy with Idahoans at the Revolution Center, a modest-sized venue at 2,200 capacity. That way, fans can soak up the light-speed guitar solos and witness every delightful lyric to morbid classics such as “Chemical Warfare,” “Mandatory Suicide” and “Die By the Sword.”
8 p.m. Thursday, March 17, Revolution Center, 4983 Glenwood St., Garden City. $35 general, $65 VIP. Ticketfly. Opening: Testament, Carcass.
