Concert preview: Primus to get even weirder in Garden City

Bassist extraordinaire and world-class eccentric Les Claypool has always felt like a twisted, living cartoon character. So having his experimental funk-rock trio cover the music of “Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” makes perfect sense. This two-set “Primus and the Chocolate Factory” show will include several deranged takes on Wonka tunes, but don’t worry: Primus will deliver plenty of fan favorites, too, such as “Jerry was a Race Car Driver” and (if we’re lucky) “Tommy the Cat.” The night should be a total trip.

8 p.m. Sept. 8, Revolution Center, 4983 Glenwood St., Garden City. $35 general, $55 VIP. Ticketfly. Opening: The Fungi Ensemble.
