Guitarist Willy Porter at Sapphire; Tibbs & Kirk celebrate 45 years

▪  If you are a fan of Americana music, then hit the Willy Porter & Carmen Nickerson show Friday, Oct. 7, at the Riverside Hotel’s Sapphire Room. It’s part of Andy Byron’s Americana Music Series. Porter, a virtuosic guitarist known for his intricate finger-picking style, and the lush-voiced Nickerson are hot in the indie music scene and have performed on Prairie Home Companion.

▪  Iconic Boise jazz duo, singer Sally Tibbs and keyboardist Kevin Kirk, are celebrating 45 years of performing together in the Treasure Valley. They’ve brought their smooth sounds to nearly every venue in the area and played with most musicians in town. You can celebrate with them at a shindig from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, at a’Tavola, 1515 W. Grove St., Boise.
