There’s plenty on the menu — including edible insects — during the Idaho Botanical Garden’s annual Bug Day. Various stations at the Garden will offer everything from insect tattoos to the latest buzz from the Treasure Valley Beekeepers Club. You’ll be able to catch live bugs, participate in an Insect Olympics, earn a ‘Certificate in Bugology,’ play bug bingo, or even hear arachnid anecdotes from entomology experts. If you’re hungry, purchase some food — including from a “Pestaurant” serving chocolate-covered scorpions, superworms and other bug-ingredient treats. If it doesn’t taste good at first, remember: Patience, grasshopper.
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, Idaho Botanical Garden, 2355 N. Penitentiary Road, Boise. $8 general, $4 children 5-12 and IBG members, free for ages 4 and younger. 343-8649, idahobotanicalgarden.org.
