If you enjoy cherries, you’ll find plenty to love at the 82nd annual Emmett Cherry Festival. The community celebration pays tribute to the fruit with tons of activities including outdoor concerts, pageants, a quilt show, an art show, parades and a huge weekend train display featuring several model railroad clubs. There’s also a carnival; all-day wristbands are $30 in advance until noon June 15 at area businesses or online. Everything is family-friendly and plenty of activities are free. The party peaks on the final day, June 18, with a Cherry Pit Spit (12:30 p.m.), Cherry Pie Eating Contest (2 p.m.) and the Cherry Festival Parade (6 p.m.)
Wednesday-Saturday, June 15-18, Emmett City Park and surrounding areas. www.emmettcherryfestival.com. (208) 365-3485. Free to enter; no admission or gate fees.
