5 Things to Do This Weekend in Boise

1. HIT THE WEEKEND WITH YOUR BEST SHOT

This weekend, it’s last call for the Western Idaho Fair. Carnival rides, greasy food — and the much-anticipated Pat Benatar concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the grandstands. (Free with paid Fair admission.) The Fair runs through Sunday. Find everything you need to know in this preview.

2. GO YOUR OWN WAY

You’ve got to hand it to the Fleetwood Mac tribute act headlining The Village at Meridian’s free “Rock the Village” concert series on Friday. California-based Fleetwood Mask’s website is anchored by a video of approval from Mick Fleetwood himself. BFD opens at 5:30. Fleetwood Mask hits the stage at 6:30.

3. DIVE BOMB INTO NAMPA

You’ll find fascinating history and amazing machinery at the Warhawk Air Museum on Saturday and Sunday. It’s time for the annual Warbird Roundup.

4. HAVE 5 SECONDS OF FUN

Unlike most boy bands, pop-punk outfit 5 Seconds of Summer actually plays instruments. But based on the seating map at Ticketmaster, this Australian act’s 15 minutes of fame appears to be waning. (Remember, this show Saturday at Taco Bell Arena went on sale almost a year ago.) Still, expect a few thousand teenage girls to magically materialize.

5. DISCOVER FREE ENTERTAINMENT

This weekend, it’s “Sunday Funday” at the Discovery Center of Idaho. (Also known as “Sunday Packed Day,” I predict.) The learning destination will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with free admission. Among the highlights: “Zap! The Current Exhibit,” which will teach you how power works.
