Any experienced musician can tell you: There are endless ways to get booted out of a band: Lack of skills, bizarre personality, poor hygiene ...

But for voting for Obama? Yeah, that probably happened, too.

Boise singer-songwriter Steve Eaton decided to have a little fun with the idea in his song, “I Got Kicked Out of My Bluegrass Band When I Became a Democrat.” Eaton and some friends filmed this video a couple of weekends ago.

Eaton co-wrote the lighthearted song with his friend Dan MacKay, who died in 2015. This video is dedicated to him.

Enjoy what you’re hearing? Eaton, who also wrote The Carpenters’ 1977 hit “All You Get From Love is a Love Song,” performs regularly in the Boise area.
