Outlaw IPA to ‘rustle’ up new name

Ready to rustle up a six pack, Boise?

Payette Brewing Co. plans to rebrand its Outlaw IPA as Rustler IPA by the end of the year.

Why? Because Two Brothers Brewing Co., an Illinois brewery that also has an Outlaw IPA, sent Payette a cease-and-desist letter.

Outlaw is the brewery’s flagship beer, so the name change is not a small deal. However, founder Mike Francis told the Statesman in July that it needs to happen.

“It’s kind of tough with it being our bestselling beer,” Francis said. “I don’t want to change it. But it’s kind of what we should do and have to do.”
