Words & Deeds

Michael Deeds: 5 Things You Should Do This Weekend in Boise

1. GET SOAKED

No, I’m not talking about torrential rain. If that happens, toss this idea into the water-filled gutter. But, after cancelling opening day for two weekends in a row, Roaring Springs plans to open Saturday. Theoretically. Check the website for updates. And, remember, their pools are heated.

2. GET LUCKY

The weather is supposed to be sunny and pleasant Sunday. (OK, maybe including “a shower.”). So why not head to Sandy Point Amphitheater at Lucky Peak Park? Idaho singer-songwriters will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation. (Rock on, Bernie Reilly!)

3. ENJOY A HEATH BAR

Boise comedian Heath Harmison headlines this weekend at Liquid Laughs. Los Angeles-based comic Steven Briggs will be along for the ride. Gotta admit, Harmison’s Gollum impression is pretty solid.

4. DO NOTHING

Distortion, shoegazing, reverb: These terms describe an excellent Sunday night at Neurolux. You don’t have to work the next day, so get your eardrums worked over by rock bands Nothing and Merchandise.

5. REMEMBER WHY MONDAY IS A HOLIDAY

Here’s a full list of Memorial Day events.
