Michael Deeds: 5 Things You Should Do This Weekend in Boise

1. MOVE, PEOPLE

It can’t all be about the Kentucky Derby and Mayweather-Pacquiao. How about alien Yetis instead? With AutoTuned vocals? PPL MVR is not like anything else happening in Boise this weekend. Check the rock trio out Saturday at the Knitting Factory. Tickets are free by listening to 100.3 FM The X. Or snag them at The X tent outside the venue if any remain available before the show.

2. GRAB A FREE COMIC

Free Comic Book Day on Saturday is simple and cool: You go to your local comic book store and select one of 50 free available titles. Bonus: It’s also the best day other than Halloween to dress up like Batman.

---

3. TAKE THE KIDS OUT

There’s a triple header of family-friendly events happening Saturday at Expo Idaho: Family Pet Expo, Kids Fun Fest and Experience Idaho. Five bucks gets you into all three events. If it’s boring, Dad, just take a nap with the cats at the Pet Expo.

---

4. PROMOTE ACCEPTANCE

The Egyptian Theatre will host the The Arc’s fifth annual Sprout Film Festival tonight at 7 p.m. The 10 shorts celebrate the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. According to organizers, “the goal is an enjoyable and enlightening experience that will help break down stereotypes, promoting a greater acceptance of differences and awareness of similarities.”

5. BOUNCE AROUND

Nah, it ain’t quite the Dirty Dash. But the Insane Inflatable 5K should still get plenty of people smiling Saturday at Expo Idaho.
