Here's one for Friday's official What The @#%? Department.
New York-based website Vocativ has awarded Boise a No. 1 ranking in a new United States Livability Index. Our winning category? "Cost of a Night Out," which includes the obvious criteria: "Cheap beer, weed and a dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings."
This makes total sense. I don't know about you, but I always reach for a purse-sized sack of chronic to get me through a night Downtown. Particularly when I'm treating my special lady to an evening of fine dining at the Meridian chicken-wing chain.
"Boise’s good weed costs a paltry $267 per ounce," gushes Vocativ. (Yo, weed experts: Please chime in to confirm the accuracy of this report.) Vocativ also notes incredulously that you can buy a beer here for one American dollar. Where exactly? At "Oly Night" at The Lift? (Conveniently, the article does not say.) Look, I don't know where these bong-pulling lifestyle experts are supposedly guzzling their dollar beers, but I'd guess it ain't at Yard House. (Yes, I know that Yard House is in Meridian. But Vocativ judged Boise by its Buffalo Wild Wings location in Meridian. So fair's fair.)
"Top 10 Cities for a Night Out: Cheap beer, weed and a dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings"
- 1. Boise
- 2. Louisville, Ky.
- 3. Las Vegas
- 4. Henderson, Nev.
- 5. North Las Vegas, Nev.
Apologies in advance if you feel stoned for having read this far. Either way, judging from at least one comment on the Vocativ site, Boise is not particularly impressed.
