Weekend music (and free tickets!): Young Jeezy, Cage the Elephant

With Christmas and the New Year approaching, live music will go on holiday break soon. But before that happens, here are a couple of notable concerts this weekend — and chances to win free tickets.

YOUNG JEEZY ON FRIDAY NIGHT

Grammy-nominated rapper Young Jeezy might make headlines for occasional legal troubles, but the man definitely has a heart. Jeezy, known for hits such as “Soul Survivor,” gave away 250 turkeys in Macon, Ga., over Thanksgiving — and was given the key to the city. Earlier this month, he visited the Temple Owls locker room before their upset of East Carolina, and subsequently was awarded a game ball. Catch him at the RevCenter on one of the final nights of his “Seen It All” tour.

Show details: 8 p.m. Dec. 5, Revolution Center, 4983 Glenwood St., Garden City. $29.50 general ($35 at door), $55 VIP. Ticketfly. Opening: J-Boi Yung, DRG, Killemall Coop.

UPDATE: THIS CONTEST IS OVER: Want a pair of free tickets to Jeezy? Between now and noon Dec. 4, correctly answer this question: What is Jeezy's real name? Email the answer to mdeeds@idahostatesman.com with your first and last name, which will be used at will call if you win. (I cannot change that name for you, so use the name of the person who will attend the show.) To qualify for the contest, you must type the phrase "JEEZY" in the subject line. One entry per person, please. Using a random-number generator, I'll pick a correct email then respond with the good news by 5 p.m. Dec. 4.

CAGE THE ELEPHANT ON SUNDAY NIGHT

If there’s one thing that Cage the Elephant's wild-man singer Matt Shultz enjoys, it’s being uncaged. So prepare yourself for a stage dive or two Dec. 7. With an arsenal of electic singles such as “Ain't No Rest for the Wicked,” “Shake Me Down” and “Come a Little Closer,” this Bowling Green, Ky., band should provide one of the more memorable rock shows in RevCenter history.

Show details: 8 p.m. Dec. 7, Revolution Center, 4983 Glenwood St., Garden City. $25 general ($30 at door), $55 VIP. TicketFly.
