Michael Deeds: 5 Things You Should Do This Weekend in Boise

1. COUNTRY UP

Sure, Rascal Flatts canceling its show this week was tough luck. Fortunately, you have lots of other options, country fans: The Josh Abbott Band plays Sunday at the Knitting Factory. [Tickets] Feel like driving? The Braun Brothers Reunion is happening all weekend in Challis. [Tickets] Ready to make a sure-fire bet? Head to Cactus Petes in Jackpot for Billy Currington on Sunday. [Tickets]

2. DUNK IT

The seventh annual Fast Eddy’s Bam Jam will take over Downtown Boise on Saturday and Sunday — including a slam dunk contest from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday. (Yeah, I remember when I could seriously dunk — a tennis ball.) Here’s a look at the event three years ago

3. BE ARTSY

Nah, it’s not Art in the Park time yet. But Nampa’s own version — complete with live music, food and beer — is happening this weekend with 190 artisan booths.

4. START YOUR ENGINE

Firebird Raceway’s biggest annual event, the Nightfire Nationals, is happening all weekend. New this year: All tickets come with pit access.

5. GET CROOKED

If you haven’t seen music at Crooked Flats yet, it’s time. The place is cool. Singer-guitarist Marcus Eaton — you know, the ex-Boisean touring with David Crosby's band these days — is performing a benefit for Idaho Dance Theatre on Friday night. [Tickets]
