KTVB Channel 7 news anchor Carolyn Holly will retire from broadcast television early next year.
Holly made the announcement Tuesday on the 10 p.m. news. Her final newscast on Channel 7 will be Feb. 26, 2016. After that, she plans to join Saint Alphonsus Health System as its vice president of marketing, communications and public relations.
Holly started at KTVB in 1982, and is known for sharing the anchor spotlight with fellow longtime KTVB personality Dee Sarton. Holly also has been prominent in the community through volunteer work ranging from the Saint Alphonsus Hospital Foundation to the state’s annual Women’s Fitness Celebration.
“I will miss the people I work with at KTVB,” Holly said via email. “When you work in such a high energy and deadline driven business you spend a great deal of time together. We’re a family and I will miss working side by side with such highly talented people.”
And what will she miss least about the job? The hours?
“Shoot, I enjoy the work at KTVB so much that the thought never crossed my mind that I didn’t like what I did for a living,” she said.
